4Com, the Bournemouth-based leading provider of business telephone systems, has announced the successful acquisition of part of the business telecoms customer base of Hii Communications Ltd (HIICOM). The acquisition is the 9th deal in just 16 months and the third in the past 2 months. Established in 2020 and based in Lincoln, HIICOM are a telecommunication provider that combines cutting edge technology with bespoke solutions tailored to their customers’ business requirements.
The HIICOM deal adds 497 customers and is 4Com’s sixth deal this year, with the company having purchased Reach Digital Telecom in March, alongside 4 customer-base acquisitions, the most recent being Fairfield Telecom and FutureTel. As with these most recent acquisitions, this latest deal will see 4Com purchase part of the customer base, with HIICOM itself continuing to trade as normal.
Gary Scutt, 4Com’s Chief Executive Officer, explained, “We’re continuing to gather momentum across the business; this is the third acquisition in the past 2 months and is in addition to the growth we’re experiencing organically. It’s clearly an exciting time for us, and I’m pleased to be able to welcome the 497 customers from HIICOM to 4Com. What’s also evident from our past three deals, is that we’re able to complete very quickly, which is the best-case scenario for all parties. We work quickly to establish a fit and, once we know it works for both sides, we have a well-refined process that enables us to move to a swift conclusion.“
Aaron Marvell, HIICOM’s Director, said, “We are very proud of our achievements here at HIICOM in the three years since our inception, which have brought us to this point. Selling some of our customer base will generate significant funds to rapidly develop and grow our business, while also helping us improve our infrastructure and customer experience moving forwards. When we were approached by 4Com, we were aware that they’d completed a significant number of acquisitions successfully, and so were confident of a positive outcome from the outset once we found out we could raise funds and continue to operate as normal once this was complete.”
“We are confident these customers will still receive exemplary service which made us more comfortable with the deal and would like to thank the customers for their time with HIICOM. The deal with 4Com has been completed quickly, and we have enjoyed the clear process that 4Com provided which has made it possible. We are excited for the next steps of HIICOM’s journey and want to thank the 4Com team for their support throughout this sale.”
Dean Cartledge, 4Com’s Chief Operating Officer, said, “I am proud of our team at 4Com who have worked tirelessly to complete another acquisition so soon after the purchases of the Fairfield and FutureTel customer bases. I’d also like to extend my thanks to the team at HIICOM who have worked equally as hard and have been both patient and understanding throughout the acquisition process. We look forward to welcoming all the new customers onboard.”
Haydn Neville, 4Com’s Acquisitions Manager, added, “I’d like to thank Aaron and his team and HIICOM; they’ve been a pleasure to work with on this deal. Both parties were clear at the outset about what they were looking for, which has helped make it a success. I’m looking forward to speaking to further telecoms companies about how selling a customer base, or part of it can be a quick, cost-effective way of generating funds for your business, and is an increasingly preferable alternative to finance for many companies. We are more than happy to have informal discussions with any telecoms company looking for more information on their options.”
